MEDICAL EDUCATION
Dr. Albaghdadi received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine where he finished with the Research Distinction and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society. After completing his residency and Internal Medicine at Northwestern University, Dr. Albaghdadi then simultaneously completed his Cardiology Fellowship, Physician-Scientist Training Program and Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation also at Northwestern. He then completed two sub-specialty fellowships, first in Interventional Cardiology and then Vascular Medicine and Intervention at the Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School where he was on the faculty as Instructor in Medicine and practicing interventional cardiologist for three years. Dr. Albaghdadi then obtained additional training in Structural and Adult Congenital Interventions at the Toronto General Hospital/University of Toronto.
MEDICAL INTERESTS
Dr. Albaghdadi is a highly accomplished clinician and well published physician-scientist. He has been invited to lecture at national and international conferences on cardiovascular disease, received numerous recognitions and awards, and published more than 50 scientific articles on a variety of medical topics. He is a champion of early-stage medical devices in interventional cardiology for patients where no therapies exist. In addition, Dr. Albaghdadi has an interest in global health and is an active volunteer and Board member of a US-based, nonprofit that trains cardiovascular professionals in East Africa, known as Madaktari Africa.
He currently performs a range of procedures including structural heart interventions (transcatheter valve repair and replacement), complex coronary artery interventions, and vascular interventions including renal artery denervation.
PERSONAL INTERESTS
Dr. Albaghdadi was born and raised in Clinton, Iowa. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Elisa, and is the proud father of three children
